What are the rights of the individual?

Credit bureaus are required to inform every consumer whose data is held by the credit bureau of the procedure for accessing or correcting information which the credit bureau holds about the consumer.  Consumers have the right to:

 

  • know what information was submitted to the credit bureau about them  and who submitted the information;  

           

  • access information about them which is held by the credit bureau; and

  • have erroneous information held by the credit bureau about them,  corrected.
